RM Magazine: The Lucky One
BABE’S BAR-B-QUE & BREWHOUSE, the long-running restaurant and microbrewery at The River at Rancho Mirage, may be best known for its beer and barbecue, but for Lucky Callender, it’s got something else equally important: opportunity. The opportunity to return to the place he grew up, to usher the iconic eatery into a new era, and to grow Babe’s beloved beer label. But perhaps most of all, it’s an opportunity for the 25-year-old to honor his late father — renowned restaurateur Don Callender, founder of Marie Callender’s chain — by carrying on the family legacy.
