It is with great honor and pride that I announce my purchase of Babe’s BBQ & Brewhouse at the River in Rancho Mirage from the Donald W. Callender Family Trust.
Growing up in Palm Desert, Babe’s was a large part of my life. I remember the moments I shared with my dad as a child exploring the restaurant designed to his liking and all the “experiments” he brought home from the kitchen.
When he first opened Babe’s in 2002 he would take me to “the shop” and I would walk around the kitchen wondering what every piece of equipment did.
To this day, I get a great sense of nostalgia walking in. The décor of pigs and family portraits make me feel as if my dad is still there in the restaurant. It is what he dedicated the last ten years of his life to. I now feel a calling to continue a family restaurant legacy and Babe’s is the gem and beginning of my career. I will embellish on everything I remember about him as well as my own taste. I am passionate about the restaurant business, and I will provide the resources to steer Babe’s into an exciting future that I believe my dad saw but did not have the time needed to make into reality.
